EMR Participant Requirements

Students must be 14 years of age or older by the end of the course in order to become certified in Connecticut and NREMT.


Students convicted of a felony may not be eligible for certification as an Emergency Medical Responder.


Students must maintain a score of 75% or higher in this course to sit for the course final written and practical skills exams.  Participants with less than 75% averages during the program will be counseled by their instructor and may be dismissed from the course if their average remains below 75%.


Students that successfully complete this program are eligible to test for certification at the EMR level through NREMT.  Candidates that successfully complete NREMT testing are issued EMR certification from the State of Connecticut.


Participants must be in good health and able to perform the physical duties of an EMR.

EMR Course Description


Code One’s 60 hour Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) program prepares participants to respond to medical emergencies. EMRs respond to emergency 911 calls, assess ill and injured individuals, and administer life saving interventions.  This exciting and demanding course covers basic human anatomy and physiology and treatment of sick and injured individuals.


Our course curriculum involves interactive lectures and hands-on practical training. Code One’s instructors are experienced EMS professionals that bring real-world situations into the classroom. A blend of hands-on practice and interactive lectures prepare Code One EMR students for certification testing and entry to the emergency services field.

  • Mental Health First Aid certification course (class conducted outside of course hours)

    Connecticut EMR Certification

    EMR program participants must successfully complete NREMT psychomotor (practical) and cognitive (written) examinations to obtain certification.  Participants successful with testing will be issued EMR certification from NREMT and Connecticut Office of Emergency Medical Services.  If transferring an EMR certification to another state, please contact your local Office of Emergency Medical Services.

    EMR Course Fee and Payment Methods

    Course Fee:  $650 – including EMR textbook, stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, penlight, pocket mask, CPR certification, and Connecticut EMR examination (additional attempts are $25).


    • Payment Methods: Code One Training Solutions, LLC accepts checks, all major credit cards (Visa/Mastercard/Discover/Amex), Paypal, and cash for course payments. Participants may pay a $200 nonrefundable deposit to hold a seat or payment for the program. Participants paying a deposit will receive an invoice for their balance within 2 business days of registration.  All course fees must be paid in full prior to the start of class.
    • Purchase Orders: Public agencies and businesses may issue a purchase order and be invoiced for participants. Please have participant register using the discount code “INVOICE” and include invoicing instructions (agency name, address, reference PO number) in the comments box. Email completed purchase orders to or fax to (888) 427-7448 .
    • Payment Plan: Code One accepts Paypal Credit which provides course payment with 0% interest for 6 months.  Select “Pay in Full” during registration and choose Paypal for the payment method. You’ll be directed to Paypal’s secure website.  Above the “Pay Now” button will be a box that says “Get more time to pay with PayPal Credit” – click the “Apply Now” link.  Paypal will pay for your course fees in full and then you can make payments to PayPal for your balance.

    • Scholarships and Community Partnerships:  Code One has established relationships with a number of community partners which offer job training grants, scholarships, and tuition assistance.  If there is an opportunity that is not listed, please let us know and we will add it to this page.
